scam[1]The Sycamore Fire Department is warning local businesses and residents of a new scam attempting to sell advertisements and claiming their product has been endorsed by the Sycamore Fire Department.

The Sycamore Fire Department has recently received several calls from local businesses and residents who were contacted by a sales representative from a “Fire Safety Magnet” program. Fire Safety Magnets.com has been soliciting local businesses and residents’ claiming their product has been endorsed by the Sycamore Fire Department. The representative is attempting to sell advertising for a fire safety dry erase memo board or fire safety magnet. They are pressuring people to purchase $500 to $3,000 advertising to be placed on 2” x 2” to 6” x 8” magnets. The scammer is trying to gain sales by saying, “the Sycamore Fire Department is endorsing their product and/or finished magnets will be distributed to all children in Sycamore. The websites being used in this scam are FireSafetyMagnets.com and firehousepromotionsinc.com. An internet search has shown numerous complaints against this company.

The Sycamore Fire Department has contacted firesafetymagnets.com and has demanded that they cease and desist their activity in Sycamore.

The Sycamore Fire Department does not endorse this program and considers it a scam. Anyone who is targeted by this scam is asked to report the call to the Sycamore Fire Department at 815-895- 4514.
