Sandwich Freedom Days are this weekend, July 7 – Jul 8, 2012. Although the fireworks have been cancelled because of the heat and fire risk, all other events will go on as scheduled. The Sandwich Park District will be in charge of events for the 2012 Freedom Days Festival. This year’s schedule will include a parade on Saturday, July 7, the Freedom 5K Run and a Custom Motorcycle Show on Sunday, July 8.
The Parade will kick off at 10am on Saturday. There will be a Indian Valley Community Band concert following the parade downtown at the gazebo in Veteran’s Park. The Sandwich Fire Department Water Fights will be Saturday afternoon at the Fire Station.
On Sunday, July 8th the Freedom Tot Trot (7:45 a.m.), 1-Mile Run (8:00 a.m.), and 5-K Run (8:30 a.m.) takes place (registration form on website). The Cub Scout Pancake Breakfast goes from 7am – noon at the Sandwich Fire Station, 311 E. Railroad St. The Federated Church’s morning service at 9:00 a.m. downtown near the gazebo is open to everyone who would like to come.
A Custom Motorcycle Show(sign up from 10:30 a.m. to noon) will be downtown near the gazebo. Awards will be given out at 3:15 p.m. A Walk Down Memory Lane will be held at the Fire Station at 1pm, hosted by the Sandwich Historical Society. Fireworks have been postponed due to dry conditions.
