The Sandwich Fair begins this Wednesday, September 6th and runs through this Sunday September 10th, 2017. The Sandwich Fair (DeKalb County Fair) is the oldest continuing fair in the state of Illinois. See distinctive buildings on beautiful tree-lined grounds, an ever-evolving array of exhibits, commercial displays, agricultural displays, harness races, truck and tractor pulls, demolition derby, carnival rides, food stands, and a variety of other attractions. Since the first Fair held here in 1888, the fairgrounds has provided the perfect showplace for the fair. The 185 acres of well-manicured park-like settings, the charming buildings, and the friendly atmosphere improve with age.
One of this year’s most anticipated events at the fair will be the band Old Dominion playing live on Friday, September 8th at 8pm. Winning the 2016 Academy of Country Music’s Vocal Group of the Year, and being nominated in 2017 for Best New Artist and Vocal Group of the Year, Old Dominion proves they are not your average country band.
There’s plenty of free entertainment everyday as well! See Buttons the Clown, Banjo Buddies Dixieland Trio, Dan Barth Entertainment, Carrie McQueen-Stilt Walking and Juggling, FFA Farm Zoo, Antique Farm Machinery, Arts and Crafts Demonstration,
Exhibits, Rides, Displays, Food, Indian Valley Theatre-Melodrama’s , Balster Magic Productions, Inc., Maggie the Milking Cow, Rob Thompson’s Pure Magic, Chris Vallillo Original and Traditional Acoustic Roots Music, The Spoon Man, Lumberjack Enterprises, Rob Ot the Robot, all included with the admission price!
The 130th Sandwich Fair hosts the Midwest’s largest display of agricultural and home arts exhibits. General admission to the Fair is $9 for adults, $6 for children 6-12 and those under 6 are free.
