Join in for a fun and enjoyable bike ride through DeKalb and Kane Counties and support the historic Egyptian Theatre at the same time. Your participation in “Ride Like An Egyptian” will benefit the Egyptian theatre operated by the non-profit organization Preservation of the Egyptian Theatre, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The Egyptian Theatre is a fully restored 1929, Egyptian theme Art Deco movie palace. Since the ride starts and ends at the Egyptian Theatre, you will have the opportunity to explore this historic landmark. This is a great way to support this Jewel of the DeKalb community.
This bike ride offers four mix-n-match 25-mile loops. Loop 1 starts at the Egyptian Theatre (135 N. 2nd Street, DeKalb, IL) and goes east to Fillmore Park (formerly Lions’ Park on Washington St. in Maple Park, IL). From the Maple Park central rest stop, you can ride any (or all) of three 25-mile loops before returning to the Egyptian Theatre. All participants will be provided with route maps and all routes will be marked with signs.
There will be great SAG support on all loops and a well-stocked central rest stop. Bike at your own speed, this is not a race. All ages are welcome, however, those under the age of 16 must ride with a participating parent or guardian.
The ride goes on rain or shine. Due to the charitable nature of this ride, there are no refunds offered. Registration for “Ride Like An Egyptian” is tax-deductible.
End-of-Ride Meal
There will be an end-of-ride meal provided for registered riders. Meal will feature soup, sandwiches, and refreshments. Non-participating family and friends can simply purchase meal tickets for $5.00 each.
Safety
-All riders are required to wear bicycle helmets.
-Use of headphones (ear buds, etc.) are prohibited.
-All ride participants must obey State of Illinois traffic laws applicable to bicycles.
-SAG support will be provided all day.
