Come on down to Smalltown Skate Shop in downtown DeKalb this Saturday, September 24th at 7pm for their premier showing of unique jewelry made from recycled skateboards.
Shop owner Ariel Ries has been saving old skateboards for years searching for the right way to use them. Ries recently worked off the knowledge of jewelry she gained at Kishwaukee College and started designing jewelery from the old skateboard decks. So far, Ries has made about 60 pairs of earrings, and has hundreds of bangle bracelets and necklace pendants. The price of the unique jewelry ranges from $10 to $40.
The Jewelry Premier on Saturday will include a Beer Tasting, specially brewed for the event by Chris Biers. Breath Easy Event Staff will be helping to organize and promote the event. GoEd Non-Profit will be receiving 5% of all the proceeds from the event. Patrons are also asked to bring school supplies to donate for 1st-5th graders to enter to win a raffle for free jewelry.
Smalltown Skate Shop is located at 229 E. Lincoln Hwy. in downtown DeKalb. Visit their website to learn more!
