DeKalb County Treasurer Christine J. Johnson would like to remind taxpayers that the first installment of real estate taxes is due Friday, June 2, 2017. Taxes may be paid at most county banks, by mail, on-line, or in person at the Treasurer’s Office at the DeKalb County Administration Building, 110 East Sycamore Street in Sycamore from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Treasurer’s Office accepts on-line tax payments via Forte using Master Card, American Express, Discover Card and Visa, either credit or debit. Taxpayers can also pay using Master Card, American Express, Discover Card, and Visa in person at the Treasurer’s office. Please note that the credit card service provider will charge a convenience fee for those wishing to put their real estate taxes on a credit/debit card.
In order to pay taxes with this online option, taxpayers should visit the DeKalb County website at www.dekalbcounty.org and click on the “Pay My Property Tax” link. The Forte link will appear on this page. You will find it helpful to have your tax bill at hand when making your payment online.
If you mail your payment, the stub on the bottom of your tax bill should accompany your payment. Please put your parcel number on your check to insure proper credit.
Those taxpayers who intend to pay at the office should be aware that there is limited parking due to the jail expansion project. Taxpayers are encouraged to mail their payments so that they are postmarked on or before the due date. Taxpayers are also encouraged to make their payment at a local bank on or before the due date to avoid the congestion.
If you have questions about your tax payment, please visit our website at www.dekalbcounty.org or call Treasurer Johnson’s office at 815-895-7112.
