The public is invited to a meeting to establish the Northern Illinois Regional Food Hub and Processing Center in DeKalb this Thursday, February 5th, 2015 at 11am. The time has never been more conducive for such an effort. Few opportunities come along with as much potential for a collaborative effort that can have positive benefits for employment, increased farm production, increased regional connection and collaboration, and over all economic stimulation for DeKalb County as a whole.
This Thursday February 5th at 11:00 am is the first meeting of interested parties. Thanks to the support of DeKalb County the group will be able to meet in a conference room at 2500 North Annie Glidden Building A, the County Outreach Building.
Dan Kenney, Executive Director of the DeKalb County Community Gardens and Convener of the Working Group, has put together the following links to resources to increase awareness of what a food hub can be, as well as resources to assist in establishing a food hub.
