The Sycamore History Museum is proud to host ‘Pride of Sycamore High’ this Saturday, January 21 at 7pm. Come listen to how experiences at Sycamore High School played a role in the lives of Sycamore authors Dirk Johnson and Mark Vancil.
Award-winning journalist Dirk Johnson is the Chicago bureau chief and a senior writer for Newsweek. He wrote for the New York Times for 16 years, covering many of the major national news events of the past two decades, including the shootings at Columbine High School, the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City, and various national political races. Johnson is a five-time winner of the New York Times Publisher’s Award and the author of Biting the Dust: The Wild Ride and Dark Romance of the Rodeo. He lives in Sycamore, Illinois.
Mark Vancil is president of Rare Air Media, a publishing and communications company based in Winnetka, Illinois, that has produced dozens of award-winning books and custom publishing programs for sports, publishing and entertainment clients. Vancil also edited Michael Jordan’s book, “Driven from Within.”
‘Pride of Sycamore High’ will be held at the Sycamore High School, 555 Spartan Trail in Sycamore. The cost of attending is $15. The event is sponsored by the Sycamore History Museum.
