Join the DeKalb Park District for family-oriented winter activities at the 2nd annual POLARpalooza this Sunday, February 14th at Lion’s Park, 700 W. Taylor St. in DeKalb. From 1:00-4:00 pm there will be Ice Skate rentals, a Winter Scavenger Hunt, Free S’mores and Hot Chocolate, Photos with the POLARpalooza Penguin and Snowman and Winter Sports School (slacklining, disc golf, knot lessons, and more outdoor adventures!)
Other activities include:
- Snowman Building Contest (1-3 pm)
- Winter Crafts (1-3:30 pm)
- NIU Mascot – Mission (1-2 pm)
- Bike Rides with North Central Cyclery (2-2:30 & 3-3:30 pm)
- Figure Skating Demonstrations (1:30 pm & 2:30 pm)
- Birding Hike (1:30 pm)
- Dog Sledding Demonstration with Raven’s Huskies (3-4 pm)
The Park District is currently seeking donations of ice skates (especially youth sizes). Please drop off donations at the Sports & Rec Center on South 4th Street in DeKalb. POLARpalooza is free for all to attend. Parking is available at the River Heights Golf Course.
