Pippa White calls her One’s Company Productions “part theatre, part storytelling, part history.” Audiences call them unique, captivating, and touching. An audience member recently captured the gist of Pippa’s unique presentations when he said, “her performances are entertainment wrapped in history intertwined with inspiration.” See and hear Pippa White this Thursday, April 11th in two different performances at Kishwaukee College.
‘Far as the Eye Can See’ will be from 12:30-1:30 Thursday. The prairie and its people: the early pioneers who crossed it, the later pioneers who settled it, the brave people of the Dust Bowl, and the Native American people who struggled to keep the prairie that once belonged only to them. Pippa White brings the history of the prairie to life as she skillfully portrays real people and actual events in her one-woman show.
‘The Story of the Orphan Train’ will take place from 7pm – 9pm Thursday. At least 200,000 but maybe as many as 500,000 children were involved. Fending for themselves on the streets of New York, homeless children were given a chance for a new life in America’s heartland by riding the orphan train. Orphans who remember the experience come to life in Pippa White’s performance and share a heartrending and forgotten part of history.
This is Pippa’s fourth time performing at Kishwaukee College. Each time her performances have been filled to capacity so the public is encouraged to arrive early. Both performances are open to the public and free of charge. They will be held in the Kishwaukee College Jenkins Auditorium at 21193 Malta Road in Malta, IL 60150. Call 815-825-2086 , ext. 2040 with questions. Visit Pippa White’s website.

This event is part of the larger History Lecture Series which started February 7th. We got started late in the series, but have attended several events so far. They’ve all been most interesting. The Pippa White events are the most well known, but there will be another event on April 17th at 11:30am in Kishwaukee College Library Classroom L-202. This last event is titled: Starved Rock State Park: The First 100 Years. We encourage everyone to attend these worthwhile free events at Kish College!
