Photo – 131 trees of 7 varieties are being planted throughout the District this week and next. Last winter, the Park District awarded a bid to Alaniz Landscape Group to supply and plant new trees in an effort to offset tree loss from the past several years. Through planned conservation, many trees have been removed due to age, damage or poor health. Even more have been taken down in a preventative effort to slow the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle. While every tree is valuable to Sycamore’s plant, animal and people communities, some of these new plantings are extra special Memorial Trees – dedicated to a loved one or event.
