For a while DeKalb had a traffic sign (pictured on the right) that made “America’s Most Confusing Signs”. Evidently someone(s) at the City of DeKalb didn’t think its citizens understood how a merge works and required overly complex drawings to explain it.
Well that or someone accruing boatloads of comp time had too much time on their hands while stashing their cash for a retirement bonus.
So you can imagine our shock and chuckle when we saw the replacement sign. Have we really digressed so far that drivers must be warned of pedestrians who might be hula hooping in the crosswalk?
As it turned out the “hula hoop” in the picture was actually a transparent sticker placed on a routine pedestrian in crosswalk sign by a fan of The String Cheese Incident a popular band with elements of Bluegrass music in their style from Crested Butte and Telluride, Colorado formed in 1993.
The DeKalb String Cheese Sign Incident photo was shared by 504 people.
