There is a new company taking care of DeKalb County’s recycling pick ups. This new company, New Life Recycling, IS picking up recycling in both DeKalb at Grove & South Fourth Street (9:00 – 11:00 a.m.) and Genoa at 333 E. First Street (12:30pm – 2:30pm) this Saturday, as well as in Sandwich, 750 Duvick Street on the 2nd Saturday of the month and Sycamore, 475 N. Cross Street on the 3rd Saturday.
Apparently the City of DeKalb was unaware of this change and sent out erroneous Press Releases to all the media that there would be no electronics recycling this month as in past months of December. Towns in the area all received numerous calls this morning about it. A call to the county and New Life Recycling finally corrected the information.
Other options for recycling electronics in the area are also available. The Goodwill store at 1037 S. Annie Glidden Road will accept electronics donations. Also, the Best Buy store at 2074 Sycamore Rd. in DeKalb accepts up to three items per day per person for electronics recycling.
