Join us in welcoming students back to DeKalb this Friday, August 25th starting at 9am. New and returning students move in to NIU residence halls. Classes begin on Monday the 28th. All DeKalb ‘townies’ might want to stay away from the busy happenings on the west end of town.
NIU students and families though, have lots of choices of things to do this weekend. Below are two welcome events and click here to visit NIU Welcome Days online:
Huskie Fall Kick-Off
Huskie Stadium
Huskie Kick-Off—at this dynamic event you’ll learn what it means to be a NIU Huskie fan! We’ll celebrate the different NIU traditions with Interium President Freeman, faculty, staff and fellow new students. As part of this event, you’ll receive your FREE Northern Pact shirt (the only place you can get it for free) and head to the field to form a giant “NIU” for a class photo. A can’t miss event.
RHA (Residence Hall Association) Block Party
Friday, August 25, 2017 – 8:30 PM – 11:30 PM
Outdoor Recreation Sports Complex
Join them for the Residence Hall Association’s Annual Block Party. Enjoy live music, food, inflatables and more. This event serves as the largest RHA event of the year and offers a variety of activities to keep you going throughout the night. Buses will be provided to shuttle students to and from the Residence Halls. There is also free parking in Lot C3.

Lori Viereckl Stephanie is correct, it’s also this weekend.
Why the change? Hasn’t it been the weekend after move in?
I think Cornfest when I was there in the early 2000s was the weekend after Orientation, but the weekend before Classes start.
