Does the New Year mean a new you — or another failed New Year’s resolution? Probably the latter for many of us. Psychologists suggest it is very unrealistic to expect that the flip of a calendar is enough to motivate us to rid our minds and bodies of all our bad habits and behaviors.
Though most of us start off the new year with the best of intentions—be it to get healthy, put our finances in order, or finally learn how to play that musical instrument—most of our resolutions end up being massive failures. In truth, 75% or more of new resolutions fail by the middle of February.
However, there are ways to make your resolutions work. Pick one (1), not a dozen and spend two (2) months to make that resolution work. Then you do another resolution and spend two (2) months making it work. By years end you will have conquered six (6) new resolutions.
Top Six Resolutions:
- “I’m going to take control of my health.”
- “I’m going to some exercise every day.”
- “I’m going to lose 10, 20 or 30 pounds.”
- “I going to be a better friend and family member.”
- “I’m going to earn and save more money.”
- “I going to be less stressed by my work and life challenges this year.”
Or you can be like a majority of the people in your circle and make your new New Year’s Resolution to be … “No New Year’s Resolution”—a promise we are sure you can keep.
