NEW Outdoor Farmers Market Hosted by Local Cafe

Grassroots Juicery & Café, located at 2180 Oakland Drive in Sycamore, on the south side of Hyvee, is hosting a new outdoor farmers market in their parking lot this summer. The market, named Grassroots Outdoor Community Market, begins this Sunday, 22 May, and will take place every second and fourth Sunday of each month through 9 October, open from 9 am to 1 pm.

The market will be host to local farm grown vegetables, fruits, meats, eggs and honey, in addition to baked goods, gourmet oils, essential oils, local made soaps and body care products, arts and crafts, and many other goods for sale. Additionally, numerous local health and fitness small businesses will be present offering consultation and services ranging from acupuncture to yoga, from parkour to massage, and from physical therapy to fitness instruction. There will also be various entertainment and demos throughout the market season. Grassroots Juicery & Café will be open as well offering its full range of delicious smoothies, juices, soups, salads and wraps.

When asked about the new market, Grassroots owner and Sycamore resident Dan Pojar said it seemed like a good idea to have a weekend market in the Sycamore-DeKalb area. “With Sycamore again holding its market on Tuesday, and DeKalb on Thursday during the day, we received a lot of customer feedback that it would be nice to have a weekend market for those who are unable to attend the weekday markets. I also thought it would be fun to host. We have two themes for our market: local and health. We are making sure our market offers something of interest for everyone, whether that is vegan items or meat, organic goods, gluten-free items or traditional baked goods, local health and fitness services to arts and crafts, you name it. We invite everyone to come out with their families and friends, and enjoy themselves while spending time at our market. You will also be able to have lunch at the market. This will truly be a community market, and enjoyable. Please also note, our vendors are local, many trying to make a successful go of their own small businesses, so by coming out and supporting our market, local community members will be supporting other local community members.”
