March 29th is “National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day“—a day to honor all small business owners.
Small businesses account for 99.7% of all businesses in the United States and 49% of all private sector jobs, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Small business owners invest a lot of time, money and personal risk in order to provide valuable products and services to their communities. Only about half of all new business establishments survive five years or more and about one-third survive 10 years or more. These small businesses need our support to survive!
Some of these Mom and Pop businesses are handed down from one generation to the next. For example, Service Now Home Services was started in 1949 and is now run by the third generation of the Carpenter Family. Others are recent start-ups.
Other family-owned businesses who support this website include Claesson Carpet Cleaning, Huckleberry’s Pet Parlor, Paulsen Appliance & Electronics, Jacobson & Snow Accounting & Tax Preparation, and Tapa La Luna.
