September 28th is National Drink Beer Day. As the Oktoberfest season comes to an end, this day is a great reminder to enjoy the world’s most popular adult beverage. This malty elixir is toasted annually and enjoyed by many—both craft and regular beers.
Beer lovers have more selection than ever before in the ale and lager market. An explosion in the craft beer industry keeps the competition and the flavors robust, churning out new flavors seasonally. Beer connoisseurs quench their thirst with flavors drastically different from their grandfather’s beers. Rootbeer to raspberry, caramel, and hints of herbs all tickle the palate when it comes to artisanal beers.
Beer in the United States is manufactured by more than 3,000 breweries, which range in size from industry giants to brew pubs and microbreweries. The United States produced 196 million barrels (23.0 GL) of beer in 2013, and consumes roughly 28 gallons of beer per capita (adults) annually. According to a recent study, North Dakota residents consumed 43.6 gallons of beer per drinking-aged adult in 2013, more than any other state. Wisconsin is ranked 4th. Sorry Illinois Beer drinkers, it seems Illinoisans are enjoying a variety of adult type beverages. There is something for everyone!
From the wide assortment available, enjoy National Drink Beer Day.
A great way to enjoy ‘TGIF’ is to stop by PJ’s Courthouse Tavern (Sycamore) for a cool after work beer.

I think some of you are reading way too much into this. Brett Kavanaugh said about 20 times that he really likes beer and that he drinks beer. It was watched by millions of people and talked about a lot.
The very next day, coincidentally, was “National Drink Beer Day.” It was an innocent joke referencing the fact that he kept saying he liked drinking beer.
I know that we have readers from all different political views and I try very hard to be fair and objective in my reporting. I also enjoy humor and try to keep things lighthearted, occasionally. I am sorry that you did not see the humor in this.
Diann Slusser …. liking Beer is not a political statement … the content of the investigation is a personal issue which DCO does not take sides.
