The Sycamore History Museum is serving up tea this Sunday, September 17. This historical “Tea Party” will be an enjoyable event for young ladies, mothers, grandmothers, and friends. While enjoying a sip of tea (lemonade will also be available) and sampling sandwiches, scones, and desserts, visitors will enjoy Liz Bockman informative talk about Tea Etiquette. Afterwards, the young ladies will have the opportunity to share their knowledge about etiquette with the character Ariel. The afternoon also includes a Best Hat Competition, Tea Party Bingo, a children’s hat decorating table, and a silent auction.
Liz Bockman has a diverse professional background. She brings experience in developing and implementing programs on customer service, and business management. While the tea is served, she will explore the proper way to eat scones and finger foods, how to sit properly, along with the history of and proper uses of napkins.
Ariel will be presented by Parties with Character. Since Ariel is not too sure about our ‘human ways’ this is a fun way to for our younger guests to show off what they learned about etiquette from Mrs. Bockman’s talk. There will also be an opportunity to have your photo taken with Ariel. This year we are making an extra effort to make the program work for people of all ages.
The afternoon will end with the opportunity to enjoy a carriage ride.
