Mina Johnson Honored for 10,000 Hours of Service

Mina Johnson (center in picture), volunteer at Kishwaukee Hospital, part of Northwestern Medicine, was honored recently for achieving over 10,000 hours of service. Since the 1990’s when Johnson started as a hospital volunteer, she has served a total of 10,902, as of Oct. 7, 2016. Johnson currently serves the hospital in a variety of areas including Desk Team trainer, gift shop, special events, such as the annual Artisan Market, Community Wellness, clerical, and Surgical Services.

“Mina is the type of volunteer whose contributions are not limited to one service area,” said Deb Nier, director of the Volunteer Services department at Kishwaukee Hospital. “She has given her time and talents to almost every volunteer service area and event coordinated through the Volunteer Services Department and the Auxiliary. She truly is a treasure.”

Over the years, Johnson has worked in many different areas including Patient Registration, Marketing & PR, sewing, and newsletter. She is also a past Kishwaukee Hospital Auxiliary board member, and has helped with past events including Potpourri, Ball Committee, and Cookie Day.
