Calling all rebels against invasives! The DeKalb Park District needs YOU on Saturday, May Fourth, to battle one of the Empire’s most invasive species – Garlic Mustard.
This plant is strong with the Dark Side and weakens our native ecosystems. Join us to vanquish it from our parks. Do. Or do not; there is no try. Please bring your own gloves to show it the power of the Force. NEW LOCATION! Meet on the Nature Trail at the Greenwood Acres Drive and Greenwood North intersection at 9:00 am, and staff will show you the rest! The invasive plant pull will go on until 11:00 am. No pre-registration is required. MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!

Amongst the Wildflowers: Mother’s Day Wildflower Walk
Decorate and showcase a beautiful wooden flower for that special woman in your life! Purchase a wooden flower to decorate in your own unique, beautiful way that represents the person you would like to honor. This Mother’s Day weekend, we will line the trail at Lions Park with decorated flowers and invite the community to enjoy the artistry and celebrate our local heroes. Fee $8 R/$10 NR per flower! The DeKalb Park District is not responsible for any lost or damaged flowers.

Sock the Rocket!
Calling all green thumbs and environmental enthusiasts!
We need YOUR help on Saturday, June 1, tackling one of our most prolific invasive species: dame’s rocket.
NEW LOCATION! The plant pull will take place along the Nature Trail. Bring gloves, meet at the Greenwood Acres Drive and Greenwood North intersection at 9:00 am, and staff will show you the rest.
No pre-registration is required! The clean up will last until roughly 11:00 am.

Adventure is Calling: Summer Camp
Camp Discover will help campers discover new experiences and friendships each week through games, craft activities, sports, theme days, and more, all in a structured environment!
You can sign up week-to-week or join us for the full 11 weeks of camp, from May 28 – August 9. For parents who need a little extra camp time, we offer Before Camp and After Camp Care options!
We also offer week-long Specialty Summer Camp for nearly every camp curiosity and summer-long programs for Ages 3-5 with our Summer Youth Variety Programs!

Memorial Day Celebration
Join us on the grounds of the Ellwood House Museum on Memorial Day to celebrate, remember, and reflect upon our country and the heroes that made us great. The Mansion’s first floor will be open free of charge following the Memorial Day Parade and Service.
Parade: 9:00 am, Downtown DeKalb
Service: 9:30 am, Ellwood House

Play Golf, Donate, or Sponsor Fore a Good Cause!
We are excited to host the 18th Annual Golf Fore the Kids Scholarship Golf Outing on Friday, June 7! All proceeds from the outing provide opportunities for families to participate in our Scholarship Assistance Program. The fee includes golf, a cart, a swag bag, an apparel item, lunch, drink tickets, afternoon appetizers, and a great time! Afternoon appetizers, raffle prizes, silent auction winners, and an awards ceremony to follow at the conclusion of the play. Two is Better Than One: Co-ed Golf
Co-Ed Two-Person Scramble
Join us for a two-person scramble format with co-ed pairs at Buena Vista Golf Course on Saturday, May 11. One shot from each team member must be used per hole. Men will play from the white tees and women will play from the red tees. Seniors may play from the gold tees (Ages 60+).$50 per team!

Co-Ed Golf League
Co-ed teams play a 2v2 scramble on Fridays at River Heights Golf Course May 24 – September 13. All players play from the red tees. One shot from each player must be used per hole. Match-play format for just $50, plus weekly greens fees!
