We give thanks on Thanksgiving, go to the mall on Black Friday, and browse the web on Cyber Monday. Now, we have a day dedicated to giving back to your community. On #ILGive (December 1), nonprofits, families, businesses, and students around the world come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
#ILGIVE is a statewide, non-partisan movement to support nonprofit communities in Illinois by increasing individual civic, social and philanthropic engagement. It is their goal to unite the state of Illinois in celebrating the contributions nonprofits make to increasing the quality of life in our state and to promote the values of philanthropy in providing ongoing support for their missions. Citizens can donate local by picking from categories such as Arts, Culture & Humanities; Education; Environment & Animals; Health; Human Services; Global Affairs; Social Benefit or Religion & Faith.
Find Your Cause! Talk to friends, family, discover nonprofits on Public Good.
Editor’s Note: Personally, I am helping to raise funds to help a local agency doing work that is very close to my heart – Adventure Works! Adventure Works’ mission is to to assist youth in overcoming challenges and becoming healthy adults through adventure-based counseling. This is really good stuff!! Click here to see my personal fundraising page and please consider joining me in making a donation to them on this Giving Tuesday!
