Lions Park on Taylor Street in DeKalb is undergoing an extensive makeover! According to DeKalb Park District Superintendent of Marketing & Golf Operations, Scott deOliveira, the District received a grant for the reconstruction of the park and needs to get a ‘sign off’ from the grant provider before they can open later this summer.
More information about that grant and the upcoming ribbon cutting will be forthcoming in future press releases. For now, it’s something to get excited about!!

It’s about time, and it’s a little farther away from the street.

Yes I definitely plan on taking Lincoln place looks really cool
Yes wish they would add a splash pad like the others have said tho
Me too!!!
Whats gonna happen to all the wood chips when it floods? Wish they would have built the ground up or something to prevent flooding.
Kenny this is almost ready to open we will have to go check it out.
Park date when it opens Mandy Meyers-Bauer?
Yes! I was thinking that’s a good biking distance. Haha. Or just a good place to meetðð
Great new park! Good job PD!
It looks nice but where is the swing set? And is anyone else concerned about the giant litter box and who is going to clean it?
I believe it’s wood chips. I could be wrong.
They created a sand volleyball court in the park as well as the wood chip playground area.
For safety reasons the playground pieces like swings are on the ground so kids won’t get hurt during construction. And in addition to sand volleyball, they ‘re building a bag toss area.
Mandy Meyers-Bauer,we need to go
Yes, I was just looking at it this morning!
Too funny! I just asked you if you want to go when they open! It would be great with a splash pad but I don’t think that’s in the plans

Great job!
I drove by the other day, it looks great!
It’s great! I wish, however, the PD would consider adding a small splash pad to a couple of parks…kids LOVE water and it would be something more for them to do all summer. Mine are too old to enjoy it, but I know it would be a hit with the younger kids!
Splash areas are Sssoooooo needed ! 🙂
I agree 100%!!!!
I totally agree, I was just telling my sister in Wisconsin that last week. They gave one in Racine, it’s awesome and refreshing
It’s beautiful and will be a gem in the neighborhood when it opens.
And we cant even Decide on what to do with Ours
Do a splash pad, it would bring more business to malta!
It really would… though I understand the legalities of not putting one in 🙁
A splash pad would be amazing In Malta.
