The 2015 farmers market season is upon us! Farmer-vendors are doing final preparations so that market booths can be brimming with farm-fresh products on opening day. However, with all the work that goes into simply getting products to the farmers market, many growers have not set aside the time to think about some of the direct-to-consumer marketing considerations that could make booths and products more appealing, thus boosting sales and creating repeat customers.
Join Andy Larson, Local Food Systems and Small Farms Educator serving Boone, DeKalb, and Ogle Counties, for a discussion on “Marketing and Merchandising for Farmers Market Vendors” at the DeKalb County Extension office from 6:00 – 8:30 pm this Tuesday, April 7, 2015 to become better prepared.
The discussion will include: Setup, signage, and staffing considerations to make your booth stand out; Packaging, pricing and display to make your products move; and Customer service tips that will bring people back week after week. You’ll also hear from experienced local farmers market vendors about some of their best marketing practices, as well as pitfalls to avoid.
