The DeKalb Police Department’s Targeted Response Unit was contacted by the Department of Homeland Security – Customs and Border Protection to advise that they interdicted four packages at JFK Airport in New York, New York that contained approximately 3,500 suspected MDMA tablets. The four packages were to be delivered to Keyon Bell, who resides in the 2600 block of North First Street in DeKalb.
On August 1, 2016, members of the Department of Homeland Security – Customs and Border Protection, United States Postal Inspections, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Northern Illinois University Police Department, Sycamore Police Department and the Dekalb Police Department conducted a controlled delivery of one of the packages containing 1000 tablets of the suspected MDMA to Keyon Bell’s residence. Keyon Bell accepted and brought the package containing the MDMA tablets into her apartment.
A search warrant was then executed at Bell’s apartment. Bell had opened the package that contained the MDMA tablets. The investigation revealed that Bell was having the MDMA tablets sent to her residence for co-defendant Cory May.
On August 1, 2016, Cory May was arrested at Bell’s apartment when he came to pick up the package that contained the MDMA tablets. Keyon Bell was also arrested at her residence.
Cory J. May, Male, 34 years of age, was charged with Controlled Substance Trafficking, Unlawful Possession Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. May resides in the 4700 block West Monroe Street, Chicago.
Keyon S. Bell, Female, 22 years of age was charged with Controlled Substance Trafficking, Unlawful Possession Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. Bell resides in the 2600 block North First Street, DeKalb.
