The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, led by Music Director and Conductor Linc Smelser, is proud to present its final concert of its 40th season with its spring concert, “Bach to Beethoven,” on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 7:30 pm, in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall inside the Music Building, Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. There will be a free pre-concert lecture at 6:30 pm in the Recital Hall.
On the evening’s program will be Brandenburg Concerto No. 1, BWV 1046, by Johann Sebastian Bach and Symphony No. 9, Op. 125, by Ludwig van Beethoven, featuring Cara Jovanovich, soprano, Tracy Watson, alto, Christian Ketter, tenor, and David Govertsen, bass. The orchestra will be joined by the the DeKalb Festival Chorus and members of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Epsilon Rho Chapter, Paul Marchese, choral director. This concert is supported in part by the Ideal Industries Foundation with a generous gift from Jean Juday.
WNIU/WNIJ is the radio station sponsor for the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, featuring KSO concerts on select Monday nights on WNIU’s Encore program.
Changes in programs, dates, times, and location of concerts will be posted on the website. Tickets go on sale 30 minutes prior to each concert. All seats are general admission (no reserved seating). Individual ticket prices are $16 for adults, $11 for seniors 62 and over, $6 for students with school ID, and $6 for children under 12.
