Plan to join in the “Know Your Watershed” Bus Tour this coming Thursday, September 19th, 2013. The morning-long tour begins with breakfast starting at 7:45 at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau.

Sycamore High School and NIU students together with instructors gather data in the Kishwaukee River north of Sycamore.
Buses will depart after a short program and return to the Farm Bureau by noon. The bus will stop at key sites along the East Branch of the Kishwaukee River north of Sycamore and at Genoa’s recently state-recognized and award-winning wastewater treatment plant. Participants will learn about the ongoing collaborative work of NIU and Sycamore High School students gathering river data. Recently installed wetlands and stream bank restoration projects are also part of the tour.
There is no cost to participate in the breakfast and tour, but the limited number of bus seats will be filled on a first-come first-serve basis. RSVP to Anita Zurbrugg, anita@dekalbccf.org or 815-748-5383. The Know Your Watershed tour is part of an 18-month long collaborative watershed planning project of DCCF and DeKalb and Kane County governments together with DeKalb County Soil & Water Conservation District.
