Kishwaukee Valley Heritage Society was established in 1977 by a group of community members dedicated to preserving historical materials of the area for the future community members to know their roots. In May 1977 the Milwaukee Road Depot was moved to 622 W. Park Ave. and a caboose from Illinois Central Railroad was moved on site in 1985. Along with the Water Works building and the above mentioned structures, the museum has accessed genealogy information, artifacts from early Genoa/Kingston and the surrounding area.
Some of the artifacts you can see at the museum are farm tools, blacksmith tools, laundry equipment from early 1900′s, pictures of buildings from late 1800′s, Leich electric telephones, switches, and manufacturing parts, oldest horse drawn hearse in DeKalb County, 1923 Overland car, medical equipment from early 1900′s, early housekeeping tools, furniture, and clothing from late 1800′s. The museum is a non-for profit 501 (c3) organization.
