Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra (KSO) is excited to announce that they will begin awarding $500 scholarships to high school students residing in DeKalb County who played instruments in high school and will continue to do so in college. A student is eligible for this scholarship if:
- The student played in an instrumental ensemble (band, orchestra, etc) while in high school.
- The student resides in DeKalb County, IL.
- The student will be performing in an instrumental ensemble while in college this upcoming fall.
If a student wishes to apply for this scholarship, then the application form must be submitted by either mail or email no later than April 1. The application requires two letters of recommendation (one of which is either a music teacher or an ensemble director) and an essay that describes their past ensemble experience and their intended college music experience.
Students awarded this scholarship will be announced formally at KSO’s May 7, 2022 concert, celebrating its 45th concert season. Further information can be found at high school counselors and guidance offices as well as available for viewing and downloading here at the KSO website.
