The Haunts of Malta at Town Hall – March 30, 2019
Spirits are everywhere….even in Malta. Gather with other spirit hunters at the historic Malta Town Hall to hear the legends of Malta’s haunted past and present. Riveting storytelling, music and dancing will immerse participants in the history of a town that overcame a devastating fire and horrific train wrecks. The stories of Malta’s tragedies and triumphs, presented by members of the Malta Community Members, will haunt all who hear them.
Laurent Home Tour (Frank Lloyd Wright, architect) – April 26, 2019
Visit the unique Laurent House in Rockford! Designed by famous, American architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, it is his only design for a client with a physical disability and includes accessibility features that were decades ahead of the American Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines. Join our tour to learn more about this extraordinary house and the enduring relationship between the Laurent family and Frank Lloyd Wright.
Motorcycle & Power Sports Maintenance – March 19-April 4, 2019
Born to be wild? Before you get your motor running and head out on the highway you better make sure your bike and/or power sports equipment is ready to roll. The Motorcycle and Power Sports Maintenance class will teach you how to complete basic maintenance tasks such as oil change, battery replacement, and inspections for tire/fuel system/brake system/clutch. You are also welcome to suggest topics to cover in the class. All bikes and power sports equipment are welcome in the shop.
Tattoo Art – March 19 & 21, 2019
Learn how to design tattoo art that can actually be used as a tattoo. Chris May, tattoo artist and co-owner of Proton Tattoo, will share the secrets of tattoo design. Chris will also explain the process to becoming a successful, tattoo artist. Students should bring sketch paper and a set of fine-line, Sharpies markers.
Oh My, Savory Pies! – March 28, 2019
There’s more to pies than meets the eye! Join Hillside Restaurateur and Chef, Gavin Wilson for a look into his library of savory pie recipes (pot pies, shepherd’s pies, hand pies, spanakopita pies) and a taste of three of his favorites. Learn which spirits pair best with savory pies for a complete culinary experience.
Wedding Dances for Couples – April 28-May 5, 2019
Learn a basic waltz, slow step and swing so you can put your best foot forward on your special day. Participants must register with a partner. Wedding plans not required.
You Can Uku-Ukulele – April 13, 2019
Originating in the 19th century as a Hawaiian adaptation of the Portuguese machete, a small guitar-like instrument, the ukulele is currently experiencing a resurgence in popularity! Love those old classic songs? Love the new ones? The ukulele is a gateway to all kinds of music and loads of fun. Join our hands-on, action-packed class and receive immediate, get-to-know-it, get-to-do-it instruction in ukulele!
