KishHealth System To Join Northwestern Medicine

With board approvals, regulatory review next step

KishHealth System signed the definitive agreement to join Northwestern Medicine. The agreement was approved by the governing boards of KishHealth System and Northwestern Memorial HealthCare subject to regulatory approval.

“During our discussions with KishHealth System, we were impressed with their desire to expand clinical innovation and breakthrough research to patients in DeKalb County and northern Illinois,” said Dean M. Harrison, President and Chief Executive Officer, Northwestern Memorial HealthCare. “As a growing integrated academic health system, KishHealth joining Northwestern Medicine will allow for even greater patient access to world class care conveniently located where patients live and work.”

With this proposed expansion, Northwestern Medicine will grow to more than 90 locations, including six hospitals. Care will be provided by a combined workforce of 26,500 employees and physicians, spanning eight Illinois counties.

Poorten will remain President of KishHealth System after it becomes part of Northwestern Medicine.
