Proceeds from the eighth annual KishHealth System Physical Therapy Center 5K Run/Walk, which was held on May 30, were donated to Adventure Works. The event raised $3,075 with an additional contribution by KishHealth System for a total donation of $6,075. Many local businesses, schools, municipal entities, non-profit organizations and individuals donated time, effort, advertising, and equipment to the event. Corporate sponsors included Advocare, Montgomery; Carl Mook Financial Group, Sycamore; DeKalb Township, J&D Larson Family, LLC, Sycamore; Jeff Keicher State Farm Insurance Agency, Sycamore; Ken Spears Construction, DeKalb; Lincoln Inn and Family Restaurant, DeKalb; New Balance, Geneva; Road ID; Sun Dog IT, DeKalb; The Suter Company, Sycamore; and Turner Law Offices, Sycamore. Four local and area businesses donated food items for the runners after the race including Jake’s Bagels, Aurora; Kishwaukee Hospital, DeKalb; Lincoln Inn and Family Restaurant, DeKalb; and Nestle’s Inc., DeKalb.
The 3.1-mile charity run/walk event hosted 287 registered participants. All runners received a goody bag and t-shirt prior to the run and were treated to post race food, drink, stretching, and music. Overall male winner was Matthew Rogowski of Hampshire time of 17:56 and overall female winner was Rebecca Schwantes of DeKalb time of 21:19. Results are posted at www.kishpt5k.org and www.racetime.info. The ninth annual KishHealth System Physical Therapy Center 5K Run/Walk is planned for May 21, 2016.
