Proceeds from the ninth annual KishHealth System, now part of Northwestern Medicine, Physical Therapy Center 5K Run/Walk, which was held on May 21, were donated to Adventure Works of DeKalb County. The event raised $3,300 with an additional contribution by KishHealth System for a total donation of $6,300. Chris Laurent athletic trainer and race director, presented the donation to Lynette Spencer, Adventure Works executive director.
The overall winner was Scott Marisette of Sandwich with a time of 18:17. The women’s winner was Leah Davis of Evanston with a time of 20:52. Although the event was very competitive for a number of runners, it was also meant for each individual to test his or her personal fitness abilities. All runners received a shirt prior to the run and were treated to post race food, water, stretching, music and a number of raffle prizes. Local sponsors included: Advocare, Dick Pond Athletics, J&D Larson Family, LLC., Jeff Keicher State Farm Insurance, Ken Spears Construction, KishHealth System, Lincoln Inn and Family Restaurant, Road ID, Nestle’s Inc., Sun Dog IT, The Suter Co, Inc., and Turner Law Offices.
“The staff at the Physical Therapy Center would like to thank all those who helped and participated. The local community has once again shown how generous it can be with its financial sponsorships, donations, time and effort,” said Chris Laurent, KishHealth System Physical Therapy Center athletic trainer and race director. “One big highlight this year was the participation of the Girls on the Run program. They had 74 girls along with their running buddies participate. This group, along with their supporters, really added to the festive atmosphere.”
The 2017 event is scheduled for May 20. Results and pictures are posted at www.kishpt5K.org and www.racetime.info. For more information about KishHealth System, part of Northwestern Medicine, visit www.kishhealth.org.
