KishHealth System Joint Center is ranked No. 1 by Stryker Performance Solutions/Marshall Steele in two important areas of joint replacement success. This ranking from Stryker Performance Solutions/Marshall Steele evaluates performance benchmarks against more than 150 hospitals/health systems and greater than 298,000 patient records nationwide.
At KishHealth System 98 percent of patients who have knee or hip joint replacement surgery are able to walk greater than 300 feet the day after surgery. Patients also have the ability to fully extend the surgically replaced knee to a perfect “0” degrees. “This is a great accomplishment for the KishHealth System Joint Replacement Center, we continuously strive to improve our scores each quarter,” said Dave Smith, Joint Care coordinator. “Patient success weighs heavily on these two benchmarks. Having the ability to fully extend the knee that was just replaced is a huge win for them. Currently our patients state that they are likely to recommend us 97 percent of the time; with continued success and more No. 1 rankings that number will likely rise.”
KishHealth System Joint Center is located at Kishwaukee Hospital and performs knee, hip and shoulder replacement surgeries. Joint replacement surgery at KishHealth System means having orthopedic surgeons that utilize the latest evidence-based joint replacement procedures, as well as a clinical team of nurses and physical therapists that have advanced training in the care and rehabilitation of joint surgery patients. A team approach is taken and it is encouraged for patient’s families and caregivers to be present for education sessions that take place two weeks prior to surgery. Patients also complete pre- and post- operative education and inpatient therapy in a group setting to foster support and encouragement among patients.
