We Honor Veterans Committee Members Kelly Stevens and Sue Goudy get fleece blankets ready to be made.
KishHealth System Hospice is celebrating Veterans Day by inviting the public to view the documentary “Honor Flight,” on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, at 2727 Sycamore Rd., DeKalb. “Honor Flight” is about four living World War II veterans and a Midwest community coming together to give them the trip of a lifetime. Reservations are encouraged.
KishHealth System Hospice partners with the organization ‘We Honor Veterans’ to provide specialized care to veterans who are facing a life-limiting illness. The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs, created We Honor Veterans to empower hospice and other healthcare providers across America to meet the unique needs of seriously ill veterans and their families. There are four levels of distinction that can be earned when partnering with We Honor Veterans. KishHealth System Hospice currently is at level one distinction. This level is based on the hospice staff providing veteran-focused education for its staff and volunteers and identifying patients with military experience. The goal of distinction levels is to ensure the very best care is being provided to those who have served our country. KishHealth System Hospice has partnered with this organization since the fall of 2010.
Additionally, as a special gift of appreciation on Veterans Day, KishHealth System Hospice will present each veteran that it serves with a patriotic blanket handcrafted by volunteers. To reserve a seat for the “Honor Flight” showing on Nov. 10 or to learn more about the patriotic blankets, please call KishHealth System Hospice at 815.756.3000.
