Kishwaukee College Continuing Education is offering several information sessions for community members interested in exploring the Veterinary Assistant Program. All sessions are free and open to the public, however, space is limited and pre-registration is required.
The sessions are scheduled at the following locations and times:
Tuesday, November 15 from 6 – 7:00p.m. at Bethany Animal Hospital;
Tuesday, November 22 from 6 – 7:00p.m. at the DeKalb Public Library;
Tuesday, November 29 from 6 – 7:00p.m. at the Flagg-Rochelle Public Library;
Tuesday, December 6 from 6 – 7;00p.m. at the Sycamore Public Library.
Veterinary Assistants are critical members of a veterinary staff who have been trained to assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with medical procedures on sick and injured animals. Veterinary Assistants are also trained in examination, customer relations, and veterinary hospital office procedures. This program is designed for anyone who is interested in becoming a valuable member of a veterinary team. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the Veterinary Assistant field is expected to grow 9% through 2024. Veterinary Assistants and laboratory animal caretakers work mainly in clinics, animal hospitals, and research laboratories.
