Kishwaukee College is hosting Dialogue: Violence in America and will be on Wednesday, November 15 from 12:30 – 1:30p.m. in Room A1273 in the Kishwaukee College Conference Center. Participants should park in Lot A/South and enter through Doors #16 and #17. Dialogue: Violence in America is free and open to the public.
Violence pervades every aspect of our culture: from the establishment of our colonies to the battles we choose to fight. Americans have included violence into their language, relationships, movies, games, sports, and music. Violence is in our American blood. Laws may change; character doesn’t. Dialogue: Violence in America participants are encouraged to voice their opinions with fact-based reasoning to share differing opinions and promote greater understanding among the group.
Dialogue: Violence in America the second in a series of open forums that are being held during the fall and spring semesters at Kishwaukee College, titled Dialogue, that fosters fact-based open discussion about topics that have a contemporary focus with an historical and sociological perspective.
Coordinated by Jennifer Jossendal, Assistant Professor of History, and Pernevlon Ellis, Assistant Professor of Sociology, the Dialogue series will be held approximately once each month and allow for members of the community to join Kishwaukee College faculty, staff and students in thoughtful, civil discourse on topics relevant to the current events and issues facing the United States and its role in the world.
