The Village of Kirkland, Hiawatha FFA, Kirkland Garden Club, Kirkland Area Chamber of Commerce and University of Illinois DeKalb County Master Naturalists are hosting the 1st Annual ‘Celebrate our Parks’ event.
Various activities are taking place at Franklin Township Park, Behnke Park, Pioneer Park and Potawatomi and MacQueen Parks.
Franklin Township Park
* 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Hiawatha FFA Alumni 2nd Annual Autumn Craft Show.
* Food for breakfast and lunch provided by the Hiawatha FFA Chapter.
* Crafts for kids going on all day
* 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Kirkland United Methodist Church Spaghetti Dinner
Behnke Park
* 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Talk in the Garden Visit with the Kirkland Garden Club about the design and benefits of the new native plants prairie garden.
* At the same times Craft in the Garden Kids can create garden crafts in the shelter.
Pioneer Park
* 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Join Rich Wince to learn to play Frisbee Golf. All ages welcome.
* 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Kids learn to fish Come out to fish. Bring you pole or use one provided.
Potawatomi and MacQueen Parks
* 10:00 a.m. – Noon Naturalist-led walk Join a naturalist and find out more in-depth of the parks flora and fauna.
* Walk any time of the day on your own. Mike and Justine Luepkes will have water and snacks set up at the MacQueen camp registration site.
