Kishwaukee College Computer-Assisted Design (CAD) instructor Mark Schwendau has authored a new textbook, An AutoCAD Professor’s Notes: A Resource for New and Experienced Users. Schwendau has been an Illinois technology educator for 40 years. In that time he has received several awards for his teaching. He was twice one of 18 runner-ups for the Illinois State Board of Education’s (ISBE) Illinois Teacher of the Year in the mid-1980’s. In 1990 he was recognized as the Illinois Drafting Educators Association’s (IDEA) Illinois Drafting Teacher of the Year. In 1991, he was recognized as the Outstanding Young Alumni of the Northern Illinois University College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (NIU-CEET). He has been a CAD instructor at Kishwaukee College for 26 years.
In his latest textbook, Schwendau has created a resource to assist AutoCAD professionals and students in the technical setup of the CAD system preparation to draw in 2-dimensions and/or model in 3-dimensions. His book includes shortcuts to assist with finding and restoring system features from previous versions.
He stated, “Students at Kishwuakee use the latest version of AutoCAD but I visit area employers to see what they are using and how they are using CAD software so I can remain current in the profession. This text helps AutoCAD users move between older and newer versions. The software is created by programmers, not by designers, and that creates some challenges. This book serves as an aid to make the program more designer-friendly.”
The new text, An AutoCAD Professor’s Notes: A Resource for New and Experienced Users, is available online at Stipes Publishing, L.LC. of Champaign, Illinois (www.stipes.com ). It is also available at the Kishwaukee College Bookstore.
