The Kishwaukee College Financial Aid Office will be holding a workshop that focuses on scholarship search and application. The Money Talks: Scholarships workshop will be this Wednesday, February 19 from noon – 1:30 p.m. in Room A1225 in the Kishwaukee College Conference Center; the workshop will be offered a second time that evening at 6:30 – 8:00p.m. also in A1225. The Money Talks: Scholarships workshop is free and open to the public.
Money Talks: Scholarships will address where students can locate local scholarships as well as scholarships that are available in the state, regionally, or nationally to help pay for college tuition and other expenses. A key component of many scholarship applications is the personal essay and the Money Talks: Scholarships workshop will include tips and strategies to writing a strong scholarship essay. The 90-minute session will cover other scholarship strategies and will also answer questions from participants.
The Money Talks: Scholarships workshop is the first in a planned series of workshops to help current and prospective college students find ways to pay for college and become more financially savvy. Participants in the workshop will be entered into a drawing to win three-credit hour class at Kishwaukee College and other prizes. Participants who attend other programs in the Money Talks series in Spring 2014 will increase their chances of being selected a winner. The drawing for the free three-hour course will be held in May.
