Phlebotomists are skilled health care professionals who have been trained to collect, transport, handle and process blood and other specimens for laboratory analysis using venipuncture and micro-collection techniques. The Kishwaukee College program is designed for those interested in becoming phlebotomists or continuing on to become nurses, physicians, or other health care professions. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment for Phlebotomists is projected to grow 27% through 2022 due to increased demand in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, blood donor centers, and other locations that perform blood work.
