The Kishwaukee Financial Aid Office will be hosting free workshops to assist local students with filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on January 13 and February 11 from, 6 – 7:30pm in room A1345. If there is inclement weather, the FAFSA Completion Night ‘snow date’ will be February 16. Participating students and their parents should plan on spending approximately 30 minutes to complete the FAFSA. Participants should park in Lot A/South Lot and enter through Doors #16 or #17.
The FAFSA form is the first step in filing for financial aid to attend a college or university. The 2016-17 FAFSA is for financial aid for the upcoming academic year (typically beginning in with Fall 2016). The FAFSA Completion Nights allow students and their parents an opportunity to fill out the FAFSA form with assistance from financial aid professionals from Kishwaukee College and high school guidance counselors from Kishwaukee Educational Consortium (KEC). Any student who would like assistance is welcome to attend the FAFSA Completion Nights.
Students should bring their 2015 income verification, including their 2015 Federal Tax information or Federal 1040 tax forms (if filed) or W-2 forms. Students and parents should know their social security number(s) and driver’s license or alien registration numbers. Prior to attending the FAFSA Completion Night, new students and parents should go to www.studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa/filling-out/fsaid to create their Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID) which is required to submit the FAFSA electronically.
