Kishwaukee College Mathematics instructor Laurie Hoecherl has been selected to a statewide committee that works to facilitate the transfer of students among higher education institutions in Illinois, joining eight other Kishwaukee College faculty currently serving as members of the General Education Core Curriculum (GECC) and Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) Panels.
The GECC-IAI Panels are designed to establish criteria among courses offered in a variety of academic disciplines to create continuity and streamline how coursework transfers between institutions. By establishing the criteria, the GECC-IAI Panels assure that courses cover the same material and requirements, thus fulfilling requirements and prerequisites at each institution in the state. Panel members meet regularly and also offer an opportunity for networking among faculty from across the state in their respective disciplines.
