Over the winter, the pool has undergone a fairly extensive makeover. The Park District has a long-range plan and dedicated funds to guide accessibility improvements. Project planning and prioritization is based on the standards set by the American’s with Disabilities Act. While this year’s pool improvements are mostly in response to necessary ADA updates, the District took the opportunity to make some other needed updates as well.
Updates include:
New accessible entry and sidewalk
Accessible counter at concessions
Ramp into the guard room
ADA lift in the baby pool and big pool
Overall accessibility improvements
Fresh coat of paint on all three pools and throughout the locker room.
New bathroom partitions, toilets and counters
New flooring in the showers
New slide in the baby pool
