The Sycamore Boy Scout Troop 40 had their annual Joiner Cemetery cleanup day on May 21, 2016 to prepare the cemetery for the Sunday, May 29, 2016 Memorial Day Service at 3:00pm. The first cleanup day on record was on Sunday, November 11-14- 1999. Troop 40 with others have been having annual cleanup days since May 30, 2005. Troop 40 invites the public to attend the Memorial Day Service with them.
There is much work still yet to be done. Landscaping, restoration of grave stones and new fencing is still needed. To volunteer to help restore the Joiner Cemetery, please contact Frank Beierlotzer at ffb66@juno.com.
The location of the Joiner Cemetery is west of Sycamore, Illinois on north side of West Old State Road just east of Five Points Road. There will be a short Memorial Day Service at the Joiner Cemetery held on the Sunday before Memorial Day, May 29th, 2016 at 3:00pm with Colonel Edward J. Rosado Jr. (USAF Retired) as the Military Keynote VIP guest speaker.
