Indian Valley Theatre is proud to announce the names of the recipients of this year’s 2021 “IVT Mimi Bryan Memorial Scholarship.” Because of generous donations from the community, IVT was able to award 2 scholarships this year. Congratulations to Cassandra Weber and Hayden Flodstrom.
From Indian Valley Theatre’s very first days, Mimi Bryan was there. She was one member of the passionate founding families dreaming big about live community theatre. As a long time educator, Mimi was active on stage as well as behind the scenes. Most importantly, she was instrumental in giving many budding actors a shot on stage and bringing Community Theater to life for hundreds of members of the Fox Valley community to enjoy. In the wonderful spirit of her significant contributions to the Fox Valley theatre world, IVT is very pleased to offer this year’s “Mimi Bryan Memorial IVT Scholarship” to these two very deserving students.
IVT was honored to have Carl Bryan, son of the late Mimi & Rich Bryan, present Cassandra and Hayden with their awards in the auditorium of the recently restored and beautiful Historic Sandwich Opera House. Several parents, grandparents, Sharon Pagoria, Mimi Bryan Scholarship Committee Chair, Darren Whaley, Current IVT President, Kathie Hart, Past IVT President and Jen Ketchum, FB Photographer were also in attendance.
Cassandra graduated from Sandwich High School and will be attending Waubonsee Community College. She hopes to pursue a major in Elementary Education with a minor in the Fine Arts area. She is a National Honor Society Member and has participated and performed in Madrigals, Concert and Pep Bands and Renegade Regiment, as well as working behind the scenes in various plays and musicals. She has volunteered with Feed My Starving Children, Fox Valley Older Adults, Football Concessions, Bell Choir at Church and has tutored children. She has said this scholarship will enable her to push herself to continue to achieve at her highest potential.
Hayden graduated from Plano High School and also plans to attend Waubonsee. She is a very talented artist and recently used her artistic abilities to create caricatures of the Top 10 2020 High School Graduates in her spare time. She has competed in the IHSAE Art Competition for the past 4 years, is an I-8 Conference Winner and has shown her work at various shows in Downtown Chicago. She also is in National Honor Society, was Senior Class President and a Leader in the Virtual Classroom. Hayden has volunteered with Feed My Starving Children and Toys for Tots. She plans to major in Business Administration and hopes to put that together with a minor in graphic design. She thanks IVT as this will give her the opportunity to pursue all these interests in the future.
Congratulations! Everyone at IVT wishes the best for these two young ladies as they begin their college education.
