The DeKalb County Health Department, in conjunction with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, and State’s Attorney’s Office are investigating a situation involving the Wyngate Animal Clinic, located on Maple Park Road, within DeKalb County.
On Saturday, July 29th at approximately 2:45pm the Sheriff’s office received a report of an unsecured door at Wyngate Animal Clinic in Maple Park. In the assessment of the building, the deputies found two live goats and two live horses, as well as freezers containing the bodies of deceased animals. DeKalb County Health Department and Animal Control were called to the scene to evaluate the situation.
Animal Control reported to the location and confirmed that the live animals were in acceptable physical condition. The building was secured at that time and the investigation moved forward. The Veterinarian associated with the clinic is currently out of state.
This is an ongoing investigation involving the Sheriff’s Office, DeKalb County Health Department; assisted by the DeKalb County States Attorney’s office.

We have always had phenomenal service at wyngate and I would recommend them and take any new pets there.
Ok, animals in a freezer are pretty normal at a vet office but what bothers me is she has been closed for well over a month. There are two freezers full of dead pets. That is a lot of animals. It takes a while to have two freezers full of animals. Those animals were someone’s pets. How would you feel if the dog you loved was put down in let’s say February and come to find out he’s sitting at the bottom of a freezer of a now closed vet practice in August. I’d be heartbroken. Something just doesn’t add up.
Is this where Doc Witt used to be?
Yes
I read the statement from DC and didn’t understand why the damn thing was even written. I mean one could suppose a frozen package of chicken breasts next to a dead cat in the break room fridge is odd, but even I can’t assume it’s criminal or even newsworthy.

Who is the vet?
Oh my goodness. There is no story here. Deceased animals in a freezer waiting for the crematorium to pick them up. Horses are being taken care of.
Yolanda, good thing you didn’t go here
I don’t but you don’t, do you Karen Huddleston?
She is a great vet. Im not sure why they would even write this as its common practice to keep deceased animals in a freezer until the scheduled crematorium pick up. And they were most likely livestock because a lot of what she treats are farm animals. We have used her with no issues for years.
Nicole Herbert I’m sure this is true and I shouldn’t pass judgment based off the small story they posted. Can’t believe everything you see on the internet!
This vet is awful. I had a horse with a broken leg that she was supposed to drop off bute and she never showed or answered her phone; I had a horse who severely coliced and she was supposed to do an ultrasound. I took off work to meet her and she never called or showed or answered her phone. The last straw was when I took a horse from her care that my friends had left with her who was in horrible condition. He even had sores on his face because she left his halter on too tight for too long. I got that horse out of there as fast as I could and never used her for anything after that.
I’ve worked at vet clinics… this just looks like slander to me.

She is a wonderful vet!! She truly cares about all animals and their owners.
My question is… what gave the police the right to search things such as the freezers? Something to think about…
With a break in at a vet clinic, they assume the possibility of a suspect inside. The freezer was probably a walk in.
Freezer being a walk in makes sense.
Crock o shit!
Both animal control & cops must be bored. All the stuff they mention in the article is like a standard at all vets. Are they going to prosecute all vets now? Get a life accusing parties!
This is just b.s she is the best vet around. The goats and horses are fine. The freezer is standard process and the story is what? What are they looking into? What ever it is i will start a gofund me page so she can take care of what ever this non story is……
People like drama at anyone’s expense. World is out of control

OMG
I’ll keep following this article for sure!
Ok thought I would let u know
Aunt’s BF posted to my wall too.
Thx.
Seems like bullshit to me. Yes as far back as I can remember there’s always a freezer. Hell I’ve had my own in it! Cost savings are involved as well. Rendering services charge either by pound or per animal. I know the crematorium she uses is kind of far away. Experienced that myself cuz Tigger died and ground was too froze to dig. Sounds like someone forgot to lock a door and it’s getting blown out of proportion!
Animals in freezers till the crematory services come is a common thing at all vet offices.
It looks to me like they accidentally left the door open after chores were done. This is unnecessary bad publicity for this vet that is a great vet.
All animals are put in a freezer until they are cremated. So are humans….I’m confused about this being a story?
All over the Rockford news…. for what?
Because the person that broke this bs storey, hasn’t got a clue what they’re talking about. Animal control should realize this is bogus all day long! SMH!!
Im sure animal control confirmed that everything was up to code. But animal control cant take down the article. Journalist probably had a run in with the vet or something and is trying to smear her name even if its a bogus story
I read that the animals that are alive are in good condition
Keven Roinas We published the press release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Dept. exactly as it was sent to us. As we always do.
Well isnt that how they store deceased animals until they are cremated or buried. I don’t know but its not like they are thrown in dumpsters in the back of the clinic.
I heard there was human bodies kept in freezers at the morgue too!
I hope she isn’t going to retire when she wins all these lawsuitsð
This really ticks me off. She’s a great vet. Doesn’t seem like there’s a story here.
I fail to see what the problem is.. Deceased animals are regularly left in the freezer until they can be taken to be cremated. (Usually once a week). The live animals are doing well.. So someone forgot to lock up after they were done feeding the animals while the Dr. is away on business?
Agreed…it’s standard practice.
And the point of the story is…
An unlocked door
It just seems like click-bait. Oh there’s a huge investigation under way with all this hype and then well it seems that someone left the door open. Omg! Armageddon!! Cue the Aerosmith and send Bruce Willis there to save us all!!
