In Dec. of 2019, Indian Valley Theatre had the honor and privilege of being one of only eight theatre companies across the United States to perform a World Premier Show of talented playwright Phil Olson’s new play, “A Twisted Christmas Carol”.
IVT is very proud to announce that they were once again chosen by Phil Olson to perform one of his new plays to assist him in finalizing the script before it was published and made available to the public! Phil Olson asked IVT; along with several other theatre companies throughout the U.S.; to perform a reading of his current project titled “Birthday Club”. However, due to CDC guidelines during this raging pandemic, the reading of “Birthday Club” was performed via Zoom and recorded. A Talk Back at the end provided the playwright with opinions and comments about the script. “Birthday Club” features IVT members Connie Cline, Kari Frantzen, Jen Ketchum, Sharon Pagoria and Michele Wade. Kathie Hart, IVT President, was also available for the reading.
“Birthday Club” is about five women who get together for their birthdays; each with their own story; to drink, celebrate, commiserate and support each other as they negotiate through marriage, work, divorce, birth, kids, as well as, solving the problems of the world.
Cheryl, Kathy, Emily and Abbie started “Birthday Club” five years ago when their friend Jennifer, was diagnosed with cancer, as a support group to help her battle with it. When Jennifer recently passed away, they had an opening for a new member. However, it’s not easy to join “Birthday Club”. “Birthday Club” is very exclusive, and there’s a three year waiting list. They bring in Sarah as a potential member, but first Sarah must make it through the “interview” and agree to abide by the eight rules of “Birthday Club” to be considered an official member. One by one we learn of their personal, work and family issues and when it’s revealed that one of them went out with another’s husband, the Vodka hits the fan! The question is will “Birthday Club” survive or will Rule #5 end it forever.
Please join us on Feb. 5th, 6th and 7th as the recorded Reading of Birthday Club is shown on YouTube. Search “IVT Presents Birthday Club”.
