ICE STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM WEDNESDAY
According to the National Weather Service, significant icing is expected from 6 p.m. this evening until 6 a.m. Wednesday due to freezing rain. Ice accumulations of one tenth to four tenths of an inch are expected, with the highest ice amounts along and northwest of a line from Streator to Morris to Joliet to downtown Chicago. Some snow and sleet may mix with the freezing rain early in the evening.
Power outages and tree damage are possible due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible on untreated surfaces. The hazardous conditions may impact the evening
