This last couple of weeks the weather sure has turned cold again. Up side of that is that there is now ice skating available free to area residents. Nothing brings back great memories of childhood like days spent outdoors in the winter ice skating. Time to get some vitamin D in and bring those great memories to your children.
Free ice skating is now available at Lions Park, 700 W. Taylor St. in DeKalb. The DeKalb Park District has flooded a small area of land near the playground and pine trees to be used for ice skating. Park district staff will maintain the ice while weather conditions permit, but skating is at your own risk. Park hours are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Installation of the Community Ice Rink in Genoa is also complete. The rink is ready and open to the public. The ice rink is being provided by the Chamber of Commerce the Park District and the City. Skates can be borrowed free of charge from the Heartland Bank, 327 W. Main St.. The rink is located behind the Corner Grill on Main St. at 113 N. Genoa Street.
